The University Women’s Association of Bangalore (UWA B), established in 1963, is a non-governmental organisation of women graduates. It is affiliated to the Indian Federation of University Women’s Associations (IFUWA).

In pursuance of its objectives, UWA Bangalore

  • Runs two hostels for working women for over 40 years: Shramanjali, a 75 bedded hostel and Sarayu, a 100 bedded hostel, both, in centrally located areas of Bengaluru city The two hostels can acccomodate a total of 175 girls; the accommodation offered is on room sharing and dormitory sharing basis. One hostel has a catering/mess attached. The hostels are well equipped with water supply and solar heating; 24X7 security and CCTV cameras for surveillance of entrance and exit. Resident Wardens take care of the day to day running of the hostels.
  • Collaborates with a Computer Training centre with an aim to make girls computer literate.
  • Education Scholarship program to support education of meritorious and underprivileged girl students, both, in school and college.
